Communication skills and fluency in more than one language are key to success in today’s globalized world. As the Second Foreign Languages Department, our goal is to encourage and inspire our students to learn a new language, get to know its culture and respect cultural differences. We want our students to benefit today and in the future from the advantages of learning an additional foreign language and being a multilingual individual; we hope to lead them towards becoming citizens of the world.

At TED Rönesans College, instruction for the second foreign language begins at 4th grade and lasts through the end of 12th grade. Students choose French, German, Russian or Spanish.

Newly admitted 9th grade students with no prior second foreign language training are supported with an online language education platform to reach the targeted proficiency level.

The Second Foreign Languages program is organized in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. In addition, we provide opportunities for our students to enter internationally recognized language examinations such as DELF (French), DELE (Spanish), FIT (German) and TORFL (Russian).

Our language instruction is based on the communicative approach. It is designed to develop speaking, listening, reading and writing skills with a particular focus on speaking and listening skills to enable effective communication.

As a department we encourage our students to participate in various nation-wide contests and events organized in Turkey in the field of Second Foreign Languages. Planning to make a tradition out of the Playback Video Clip Contest, which we have been organizing since the 2017-2018 school year with participants from all across Turkey, we aim to increase our students’ motivation in learning foreign languages.
