Preschool (Age 4) – Primary School, Grade 4
Foreign language education should start at an early age, as the younger the child, the easier it is to learn a new language. The curriculum of TED Rönesans is guided by international standards, with each grade structured to support the social, physical, mental and emotional development of the child. TED Rönesans College’s early years program features a thematic approach combined with a phonics-based curriculum to maximize the development of English skills. It also teaches learning strategies, critical thinking skills and studying skills. Starting at preschool level (age 4), the phonics program provides the foundation that young students will continue to develop throughout their primary education.

What Phonics?
Learning phonics is a fun and child centered approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. The multi-sensory method is very motivating for children and teachers, who can see their students achieve. Studies have shown that phonics based learning is suitable for students learning English as both native and foreign language. This method has also seen success in readers who have problems learning a new language.
All preschool and primary school English language teachers have Phonics certificates.
How is the program implemented?

Preschool - Age 4
Letter sounds are learned and students participate in interactive activities and songs. In addition, students give “Phonic Presentations” of the sounds they have learned in that week in order to build on their knowledge.

Preschool - Age 5
The 42 main sounds of English are taught in seven groups alongside simple tricky words. After learning the first six sounds, students become able to blend sounds and read words that contain these sounds. Afterwards, students start reading books that are suitable for their level.
